Swedish digital health firm Livi has sent 25 million vaccination text messages to NHS patients since the UK programme rolled-out in December.

The company, a branch of Europe’s largest digital healthcare provider KRY, is supporting the NHS response to the pandemic through its MJog platform.

Vaccination messages include vaccination eligibility, warning people not to phone to ask for a vaccination, the latest information about COVID-19 vaccines etc.

Between the date of the first UK vaccination on 8 December 2020 and 29 January 2021, the MJog platform saw a 220% increase in messages sent during the same period the previous year. It additonally sent out five million appointment reminders.

In 2020, GP practices used MJog to send more than 200 million messages, up 140% since 2019, reaching an audience of more than 32 million patients at more than 60% of practice.

There has also been a 227% increase in vaccinations messages sent to patients by email via the platform.

Livi also provides a COVID-19 resource pack to 600 GP practices, which includes information on how to use MJog for the vaccination campaigns.

WHY IT MATTERS

Livi’s communications platform is designed to empower practices to inform, manage and care for patients. More than five million people can now access Livi’s GPs through the NHS and use video consultations for appointments.

Automation of the vaccination message process to MJog aims to help the NHS by taking pressure off GP practices, which are stretched dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. 

THE LARGER CONTEXT

Livi was appointed by the NHS to run the COVID Home Monitoring Service providing crucial data back to the NHS at the start of the crisis.

Last year the firm announced a partnership with high street retailer Boots to offer online video pharmacy consultations for people living with cancer. It also launched Livi Connect, a free web-based platform that enables healthcare professionals to connect with patients via video consultations.

The NHS has now administered the first dose of the vaccine to 10 million adults. UK health tech startup Q Doctor also aims to help the NHS with the vaccination programme through offering a booking platform to its network of 3,200 GP practices.
